FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
When is the best time for bird feeding?
Winter and early spring is the most important time to feed birds, as this is when their natural food is scarce. Feeding birds in the spring and summer may help them to raise their chicks more successfully.
Where is the best place to hang a bird feeder?
Bird feeders are best hung in a place where your visiting birds feel safe from predators. Most important: Avoid open and noisy areas and hang your bird feeders at eye level or a little above. Do not hang feeders too close to any place where squirrels can jump on them, or too low they are within a cat's reach.
How do you get birds to notice your bird feeder?
Position the feeder in an attractive, safe location, preferably near a brush pile, hedge, or another type of shelter so birds can feel secure when visiting. Add a nearby bird bath to help birds notice and visit a new feeder, but do not position the bath so close that it will become dirty and clogged with seed debris.
How far should a bird feeder be from the house?
Roughly 10-12 feet.
Birds will not visit a feeder in an unsafe area. Position bird feeders roughly 10-12 feet from suitable shelter such as trees, brush piles, or shrubs to give birds a safe, fast retreat whenever a predator is nearby.
What time of day do birds feed?
Mostly the morning. In contrast to mammals, who can store fat reserves to be utilized during extreme conditions, birds have to eat enough every day to make it through a night of cold.
Do birds remember where feeders are?
Birds do remember where feeders are so will continue to come back to the location to feed on the food you replenish daily. To stop feeding birds will only see them move to new grounds. As backyard birds’ memories have shown to last up to 6 months, you won't have any issue providing you keep feeding them.
Why having a bird feeder?
There are many advantages to having a bird feeder, with the main one being how it helps adult birds spend less time foraging and expending energy to feed their nestlings. If birds have a set feeding area in your back garden, they can feed their young easier which also saves their lives and their energy that can be spent elsewhere.
Healthy birds give birth to healthy offspring’s and hence their population can increase substantially supporting the environment in a better way as these birds spread fruit and vegetable seeds in their surroundings and carry the process of tree plantation with charm.
Does SensoFeeder™ fit onto a pole?
It just needs something to hang from. I hang mine from a small branch of a tree that I am able to reach to re fill it. If you have a pole with something sticking out of it eg a nail, it would work. A top of a fence would work - you could hang it over - or a bracket where you might put a hanging basket. It couldn't work on just a straight vertical pole
